Holemasters, a specialist in concrete and hard metal drilling, excavation and cutting technology, is delighted to announce that its team has been recognised in this year’s Constructing Excellence in London and the South East Awards 2016.
The Constructing Excellence Awards are unique in their recognition of outstanding built environment companies and projects that have delivered improvements in all-round performance through collaborative working and a real desire to make a difference.
The team were ‘highly commended’ in the ‘Integration & Collaborative Working Category’ for the M4 elevated strengthening project. This was delivered as a joint submission with the main contractor Osborne, one of the leading construction businesses in the UK. The team were able to show the judges an all-round Building Information Model (BIM) highlighting the benefits of long term contractor relationships.
Working in collaboration with Geoffrey Osborne Ltd, Holemasters was responsible for providing and implementing the practical means to strengthen the M4 elevated motorway section. This was done by drilling holes of 48mm diameter up to a depth of 6.2 metres for the installation of additional reinforcement to strengthen the structure. This was achieved through a three phase programme over two years, working at night.
The judging panel was impressed by the depth of behavioural change achieved through the ‘Balanced Scorecard’ approach developed by the framework to foster collaborative working.
David Bailie, managing director of Holemasters said: “This project was not just about ‘doing the job’. It demonstrated how the whole team engaged in achieving a common goal through understanding the challenges and pooling knowledge and resources to complete the job to the customer’s satisfaction. This award is a great accolade for Holemasters.”
Jamie Harrison, framework director for Geoffrey Osbourne Ltd said: “This award is for everyone who worked on the project and their efforts in making this project a success.”
