Hodder Waste Water Treatment Works Case Study
A major upgrade by North West Water at Stocks Reservoir, near Clitheroe, Lancashire, required the construction of additional sand filters and the installation of a static mixer in a 36" cast iron raw water feed pipe.
The pipe, one of a pair, runs in a steel tunnel beneath the reservoir, and a 1600mm long section was to be removed.
An additional complication was that the nearest access was 180m from the proposed cut.
Holemasters Demtech Limited were asked to visit site and provide proposals for the cutting of the pipe.
Diamond wire sawing was chosen as the most suitable technique given the confined area, and the need for clean, accurate cuts.
The 1600mm long section was removed in four sections to simplify handling, and the operation was achieved in three shifts including drawdown. < Go Back To Case Studies
